Yellow Diamonds - The Very Highest Quality Diamonds
The first and only website which deals exclusively with the subject of Yellow diamonds.
Natural or Enhanced?
Natural intense fancy yellow diamonds are so rare that most jewellers have never seen one, and will never own one. In recent years, treatment processes have been developed to alter the colour of some diamonds, but so far all of the fancy yellow diamonds we have bought are believed to be treated.
In our first twenty years of designing diamond rings, we had only owned 5 coloured diamonds, four of which were certificated as natural. Among the 100 largest diamonds in the world about 30 are yellow, one is fancy yellow, and one is treated yellow, although there are a number of other famous yellow diamonds. In recent years the Argyle mine in Australia has produced a relatively large number of fancy coloured diamonds including yellow ones.
Quality for quality, fancy yellow diamonds are more expensive than ordinary near-colourless ones. We have seen high prices quoted for yellow diamonds, but we manage to source small numbers at reasonable prices.
What About Citirnes, Topaz, or Yellow Sapphires?
Why bother to get so excited about yellow diamonds, when we could use citrines, topaz, or yellow sapphires instead? The very best sapphires are quite expensive, and they still do not have the sparkle that yellow diamonds possess. In addition even though sapphires are very hard and durable, diamonds are many times harder and even more durable.
Pendants & Ear-Rings
We have also made a few pendants, and are about to produce our first pair of yellow diamond ear-rings. Because of the variation in colours, and the small numbers of yellow diamonds we get to see, it is not easy to find matching pairs of yellow diamonds for ear-rings. Watch this space.
